How to Develop Your Brand’s Authority with Strategic Content SEO

Let’s face it everyone wants to have authoritative brand and website. But not everyone truly understand how to accomplish and keep growing. My short answer, developing authority is a long term game. There is no overnight solution story around.

To achieve authority in your brand, you need a well crafted strategy, and one of them is through SEO.

1. Create Content SEO Strategy 

Content marketing is one of the most effective ways of building your brand authority and overall trust from your target audience. But yet, you don’t see many companies really utilities and taking advantage of creating content that really consistent, and more importantly brings value to the market.

For example, Men’s Health is a health & fitness online community whose mission is “helping mento stay active, healthy and strong”. They post 4-5 times a day, educating its audience with practical tips which directly align with their mission.

“Get Rid of Stubborn Really Fat” is a great example how to keep bringing value to your people, by solving their problems.

There is no sells, cta, no lots of useless resources, but purely practical tips to keep your audience stay engaged.

Which will grow the trust-builder.

3. Target Specific Keywords in Long-Form Content

Whenever possible, you should always go for long format articles. Aiming for around 2,000 – 2,250 words should be just about perfect for displaying your expertise to your audience.

If you want to get in depth into long-format content, I recommend reading Neil Patel’s article, where he breaks the importance of these types of articles, and provides great examples.

Again, the main purpose of the long-format contents, is not to write just because Google loves long articles, but showcasing your expertise that will directly impact your brand authority.

Your knowledge and hard work will most likely get you in top Google rankings, which is an immediate sign of authority to searchers.

4. Narrow Your Focus With Specific (trending) Topics

You may think you need to showcase a wide range of knowledge on multiple topics for your authority-building strategy, but, in fact, that could be the exact opposite.

When choosing your market, and trying to establish yourself as an expert in that space, best you can do is not to be a “generalist”. In other words, stick with two or at most three topics while building your authority.

Publish content within this scope to build “pillar pages,” in other words an archive (category) covering all aspects of one single topic through multiple blog posts on topic facets – while all of them link to each other and to the pillar page.

This technique is great for building authority in a specific niche as well as improving Google ranking of your pages.

“This linking action signals to search engines that the pillar page is an authority on the topic, and over time, the page may rank higher and higher for the topic it covers.”

Eventually your pillar content ranks under your brand, which will lead to your authority growth.


Building Authority is the long term game.

There is no such thing as overnight success in content marketing and branding world.

You being consistent with your content, values you bring, identify you as an authority in front of your audience.
